Gwen Shamblin Lara cult documentary The Way Down gets an HBO Max trailer

The Way Down: God, Greed and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin tells the story of Gwen Shamblin Lara, who died in a plane crash in May. Lara founded a Christian-based diet program that preached slenderness as next to godliness and founded a Tennessee-based church that is accused of abuse, exploitation and cult-like practices. The Way Down premieres Sept. 30.
