With YouTube moving away from scripted programming, the YouTube Orginals dark comedy starring Dunst has found its third network home: Showtime, where it will premiere on Sunday, Aug. 25. The George Clooney-produced On Becoming a God in Central Florida was originally set at AMC when it was announced in January 2017. It moved to YouTube in June 2018. The nine-episode hourlong series "tells the story of the cult of free enterprise and one woman’s relentless pursuit of the American dream in the early '90s," according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Dunst plays Krystal Stubbs, who lies, schemes and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise (FAM) — the cultish, flag-waving, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that drove her to ruin in the first place, run by the powerful Obie Garbeau II (Ted Levine)."
