Waggoner joined The Carol Burnett Show as its announcer in 1967 but stayed on through 1974, playing roles centered around his hunky good looks. "When Burnett took the stage at the top of her shows to take questions from the audience, it was not uncommon for the asker to want Waggoner to come out and give hugs. But his looks led him to print work, as well, and he was the first male centerfold in Playgirl in 1973," says Variety's Danielle Turchaiano. After leaving The Carol Burnett Show, Waggoner starred for four seasons on Wonder Woman as Colonel Steve Trevor, Jr. ALSO: Carol Burnett remembers Waggoner: "He was funny, kind and multi-talented. But even more than that, a loving friend."
