NBC News Special Report: Coronavirus Pandemic will air across MSNBC, NSBC and NBC News Now on Tuesdays at 10 p.m., starting March 31. The special report will take over the timeslot usually held by New Amsterdam. Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie will host the special the first week, while Lester Holt will anchor the series as it continues. The weekly special report follows Holt's anchoring of an NBC News primetime coronavirus special on March 10. “We all have an appreciation for how tricky this is,” says Holt, who has been working from home, like many of his NBC News colleagues. Rashida Jones, senior vice president of specials for NBC News and MSNBC, says the special reports will not only delve into the serious news of the day, but will also try to provide some hope and optimism. ”We will also spend some time trying t find moments of comfort,” says Jones. “With isolation and everyone being separated, we want to make sure we are not just doing all gloom and doom.”
