Original All My Children star Ray MacDonnell dies at 93

MacDonnell played family patriarch Dr. Joe Martin starting with the ABC soap's launch in 1970. MacDonnell retired in 2009, but reprised his role in guest appearances in 2011 and 2013. MacDonnell was honored with the Daytime Emmys’ Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
