The star of Better Things, which she co-created with Louis CK, discusses her past with the disgraced comedian in a New Yorker profile. Even though Adlon says she no longer talks to CK, she says, “I don’t think there’s anything that can compare with a massive public shaming like that." She describes the aftermath of the news of his behavior as "flying shrapnel," and says: "It was another example of extremism happening in my lifetime." Adlon also says she hates that the women associated with CK's abhorrent behavior have had to answer for him. "It felt like the world was ending,” she says of The New York Times exposé, which CK warned her about days in advance. “I was his champion and he was my champion for ten years...And then you’ve got these women, who’ve all been through these things," she says. "And you’re, like, what does that mean? What did you do?” When asked if she still stays in contact with CK, Adlon says: "No, I'm not. But I hate saying that. If I said, ‘Oh, yeah, I talk to him every day,’ or ‘No, I’m not,’ both are awful. But I haven’t spoken to him in quite a long time.”
