Pioneering Black NFL sportscaster Irv Cross dies at 81

Cross, a former NFL cornerback, co-hosted CBS' The NFL Today from 1975 to 1989. "Irv was one of the finest gentleman I've been with," his former NFL Today colleague Brent Musburger said in a statement, adding: "No one ever had a bad thing to say about Irv. He led the way for African Americans to host NFL and other sports shows. Rest in peace my friend."
