Maddow is expected to announce her weeks-long hiatus and that a rotating group of guest hosts will fill in on tonight's The Rachel Maddow Show. According to Insider, which first reported the news, Maddow plans to work on the Ben Stiller-directed Focus Features movie based on her book and podcast Bag Man about a political bribery scandal. Maddow serves as executive producer on the movie. She is also developing a new podcast. It's not clear how long Maddow's hiatus will be, but The Hollywood Reporter says it should last through February and "at least" into March. Maddow is still expected to participate in MSNBC's special event coverage, including President Biden's State of the Union speech scheduled for March 1. Last year, Maddow signed a new deal that would allow her to cut back on her primetime duties.
