The Financial Times reports, via Syfywire, that Amazon is seeking to purchase the rights to Chinese science fiction writer Liu Cixin’s Hugo-winning novel, whose fans include former President Barack Obama. Amazon would have to obtain the rights from China’s YooZoo Pictures. The Financial Times reports that Amazon is willing to pay $1 billion for a three-season series. The Three-Body Problem is the first in the Chinese trilogy Remembrance of Things Past, but the trilogy is referred to in China by the first book's title. The book, says Syfywire, is "a deep, almost Dune-esque dive into the world of sci-fi, with a healthy undercurrent of politics and epochal social forces framing its often-stark narrative." The Financial Times report comes amid reIPTVports that Amazon is expecting to pay $500 million for the Lord of the Rings prequel series.
