The dark comedy starring Carrey as children's TV icon Mr. Pickles, who after a tragedy finds it difficult dealing with the hardships of life, won't return for a third season. Kidding premiered in September 2018 and returned earlier this year for a second season that averaged 54,000 same-day viewers. The Season 2 finale left the door open for a potential second season, though it also wrapped up the central storyline. Kidding, created by Dave Holstein, marked Carrey's first major TV series since In Living Color in the early 1990s. It also reunited him with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind writer-director Michel Gondry, who helmed the series. In a statement, Showtime said "we are very proud to have aired this imaginative, critically acclaimed and rewarding series."
