The Late Show writer Ariel Dumas received a lot of criticism from right-wing Twitter users after sarcastically tweeting on Saturday, "Whatever happens, I'm just glad we ruined Brett Kavanaugh's life." Dumas deleted the tweet, and tweeted her regret on Sunday: "The last couple of weeks have been hard for the country and for me personally," she tweeted. "The complexity of frustration, anger and sadness can’t be accurately conveyed on twitter, and I regret my tone-deaf attempt at sarcasm in the wake of it." Dumas received support from fellow female late-night comedy writers, including Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Amber Ruffin and Jimmy Kimmel Live! writer Bess Kalb. Meanwhile, Kathy Griffin also expressed her support, tweeting: "@ArielDumas, a comedy writer, being held to a higher standard than the President of the United State. Love you @ArielDumas, f*ck the haters."
