Hall says her remark about Megyn Kelly earlier this month at the TV press tour that “I already knew they made the wrong choice when I left the door" was taken out of context. "That was an unfair description of what I said," she tells The New York Times. "The question was fine, but the headlines and editing of my answer were inaccurate and disappointing. I felt like the coverage played up the 'Tamron versus Megyn' narrative, when in fact I clearly said her success or perceived lack thereof was not why I left. I knew it was the wrong decision for me to stay, so I left. It had nothing to do with her. This was a decision made by a few people. Most never met or talked to me in person about it. But out of it, I learned a lot more about the business side of the industry. I am now grateful it all happened." Hall also discussed how she "suspected something" before her Today exit. "Despite strong ratings, there were people at the top with a different perspective on what viewers wanted and who they would relate to — especially 'Middle America,'" she says. "And they felt like that wasn’t me. So I just started to notice changes during our hour of the show, and thought, “O.K., I see.”
