At DC Fandome on Saturday, The Batman director Matt Reeves not only revealed the first teaser of Robert Pattinson's emo-looking Bruce Wayne, but he offered some details of his HBO Max Gotham police spinoff that he's making with Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter. While The Batman will be set in Year Two, the show that some have been calling Gotham Central will be set in Year One, when a “masked vigilante...starts to unsettle the city." Reeves says the series will focus on the city’s corruption that “goes back many years" and that it will be told from the point of view of one particular crooked cop. “The story is actually a battle for his soul,” Reeves explained. The Gotham police show was announced last month amid a backlash over cop shows in the wake of George Floyd's killing. Viewers will recognize familiar characters within the DC universe, but Reeves noted there will be “entirely new” characters created by Winter for the show.
