Last month, Oakley denounced claims that his 1993 "Marge in Chains" episode, which he co-wrote with Josh Weinstein, predicted the coronavirus. "The idea that anyone misappropriates it to make coronavirus seem like an Asian plot is terrible," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "In terms of trying to place blame on Asia — I think that is gross." But amid news this week of "murder hornets," another clip from the same episode has gone viral, showing an angry mob destroying a crate thinking it was a cure for their disease, when the box actually contains killer bees. When a Twitter user tweeted "Sh*t the simpsons really did predict 2020." Oakley responded: "ok fine i guess we did."
