Jerry Media, the social media company that made headlines recently for joke-stealing, was behind both the Fyre Festival and Netflix's Fyre Festival documentary. Yet The New Republic reports that the CEO of Jerry Media, Mick Purzycki, who was a producer on Fyre, claimed in an email that he had "final cut" over the documentary. If true, The New Republic says that would make the Netflix film a "shadow public relations campaign," a way to have "laundered its involvement in a catastrophe. Netflix disputes Purzycki’s “final cut” claim, saying: “Jerry Media did not have final cut. There was an initial agreement that either party could walk away at any point and retain the rights to what they came into the project with. This was superseded by the distribution agreement where the final cut was with the director.”
