An all-new team comes together in Prime Video's A League of Their Own, a new series based on the 1992 film.
The teaser, released on Tuesday, recreates some iconic moments from the original film, as Stevie Nicks' song "Edge of Seventeen" plays in the background. A League of Their Own takes place in 1943, when the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League was formed, though the series will focus on a different team than the one featured in the movie, the Rockford Peaches, and players will receive new storylines. According to a statement from Prime Video, the new series will also take "a deeper look at race and sexuality" than the film.
The A League of Their Own series was created by Broad City's Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham. It stars Jacobson, Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, and Nick Offerman, plus a host of recurring cast members. Rosie O'Donnell, who starred in the original film, is also slated to make a guest appearance.
All eight episodes of A League of Their Own premiere August 12 on Prime Video.
