Barack Obama Earns First Emmy Nomination for Narrating Our Great National Parks

Former President Barack Obama received an Outstanding Narrator Emmy nomination this morning for his work in Netflix's Our Great National Parks.

The five-part documentary series was released in April and explores the world's national parks and their wildlife.

This is the first Emmy nomination for the former president and puts him up against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for Black Patriots: Heroes Of The Civil War, David Attenborough for The Mating Game, W. Kamau Bell for We Need To Talk About Cosby, and Lupita Nyong'o for Serengeti II. Oddly, though, the Emmy nomination site has photos up for every nominee except for Obama.

Obama has previously won a Grammy in 2008 in the Spoken Word Album category for narrating his book "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream." He has also been nominated for two other Grammys in the Spoken Word Album category.

The 74th Emmy Awards air Monday, September 12 on NBC and Peacock.
