Black Mirror is Finally Returning to Netflix for Season 6

During the peak of the pandemic in 2020, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker told the UK’s Radio Times magazine, “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those.” Now, after a nearly three-year hiatus, Variety reports that the dystopian anthology series is returning to Netflix, with Season 6 currently in the works.

While details about Black Mirror Season 6 are being kept under wraps, Variety reports that it will have more episodes than Season 5, which premiered in June 2019 with just three episodes. Sources also confirm that the series will continue to treat each episode as a standalone story, with casting for each now underway.

Black Mirror originally premiered on the UK's Channel 4, where it aired for two seasons before it was picked up by Netflix. Each episode tells the story of a new kind of dystopian reality, from those involving global social rating systems to role-playing games come to life.
