A Criminal Minds reboot is officially coming to Paramount+, despite earlier rumors that the sequel was being scrapped.
Over a year after initially announcing the project, Paramount+ has announced a 10-episode series order for a new season, TVLine reported on Wednesday, with stars Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, and Paget Brewster slated to return. Although Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney won't be in the new season, the returning stars are celebrating the news on Twitter.
Joe Mantegna teased the news on Tuesday, sharing a photo of himself on a partially built set. "Just doing a little inspection today for an upcoming project," he wrote.

‘Criminal Minds’ Revival A Go At Paramount+ With Key Cast Members & Showrunner Set To Return – Deadline https://t.co/mo9kfelwQL
Reports of Paramount's Criminal Minds revival first emerged in February 2021, back when the streamer was still named CBS All Access. After languishing in development, rumors that the series had been scrapped floated through Hollywood, a fact that Brewster herself seemed to confirm in July 2021.
The Paramount+ version of Criminal Minds will follow a different format than the original CBS procedural, which would resolve cases by the end of an episode. Instead, this version will be serialized, with the team working on a single case over the course of the entire season.
Criminal Minds ran for 15 seasons, from 2005 to 2020, on CBS. It is currently available to stream on Hulu and Paramount+.
