“Gotta pay those legal bills”: Internet reacts as Haily Welch aka Hawk Tuah Girl reportedly sells her X account

Haliey Welch, better known as the "Hawk Tuah Girl" after her big hit online in 2024, seems to have taken a big step by reportedly selling her X account. What used to be her own page is now totally changed, renamed as 'Up Only Memes'. This shift has the eyes of her fans who recall Welch for her viral moment that made her famous. 

As soon as the news came out, someone took to their X account and commented:

Haily Welch's role in the account shift

In a strange turn, the well-known account now seems to be under new control, or at least the person behind it has changed, shown by its new username and changed profile picture.

Adding to the mystery, two fresh tweets popped up on July 9, one fun one about memes and another unclear one that just says "What the helly," with a screenshot showing that someone is ready to pay a big $325,000 to buy an X account.

It's still not clear if this surprising tweet was Welch's last post before leaving or the first hint of what the new owner plans to do.

Right now, the account is almost at 400,000 followers, but you can only see four tweets on its timeline. Two of these tweets are left from when Welch was in charge, from July 27, 2024, and March 28, 2025. The other two suggest a new, maybe a bit messy, start for the page.

A few old fans are puzzled and even mad about the big change, mostly because the old tweets are gone. At the same time, more people are curious to watch what happens next, with a strange $325,000 screenshot making them talk about how much big accounts are worth and who’s really in control behind the scenes.
