HBO Max's Velma Gets January Release Date

Mindy Kaling's Velma series is coming to HBO Max in January. 

The streamer announced that the Scooby-Doo spin-off would debut on the platform in the new year as part of its 'What's New in January' list. Created by Kaling, the series features the voices of Glenn Howerton (A.P. Bio, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Sam Richardson (Veep), and Constance Wu (Fresh Off the Boat) as Fred, Shaggy, and Daphne respectively, with Kaling lending her voice to the titular character. 

Other stars voicing characters on Velma include Jane Lynch (Glee), Wanda Sykes, Cherry Jones, Ken Leung, Nicole Byer, Shay Mitchell, Weird Al Yankovic, and many more. 

While few details about the Scooby-Doo spinoff have been released so far, HBO Max's logline for the ten-episode Velma tells us the series "unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers" and celebrates "the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang."

Velma premieres on HBO Max January 12, 2023.
