Hulk Hogan’s former manager and close friend Jimmy Hart is commenting on the WWE champion’s sudden death on Thursday, July 24. During a conversation with People Magazine on July 25 about Hogan’s health, Hart, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the same year as Hogan, revealed that he spoke to the wrestler’s assistant on Wednesday night who assured him that Hogan was doing well.

Providing insight into the rapid decline in Hogan’s health, Hart said,

“I called [Hogan] on Wednesday night, and then Thursday morning is when everything took place. So just…just overnight it all happened, but it was so positive the day before.”

As per People Magazine, Hart asked Hogan’s assistant to convey to the wrestler that he ‘loves him.’ The next morning, however, Hart was told that Hogan had passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The sudden demise of Hogan, who underwent a neck surgery recently, surprised Hart, who told People Magazine,

“It just hits so fast. It was like, ‘Oh my God.’ We thought he was doing so well, you know? We didn't go to see him at the house and didn't go to see him at the hospital, because we wanted to make sure that he didn't get any infections or anything else, like if anybody had a cold or brought anything in. So, that's what we all did.”

Jimmy Hart reminisces about Hulk Hogan

Jimmy Hart, who is also known as “Mouth of the South,” and for his trademark megaphone at the ringside, accompanied Hulk Hogan to WCW in the mid 1990s.

During his conversation with People Magazine, Hart spoke about Hogan’s love for wrestling and his recent health struggles. He said,

“[Hogan] loved wrestling. He loved it. And he missed being able to do it because his body had been broken up so badly through the years. He had a shoulder replaced. His hip was replaced. He had two knee replacements, just so much stuff. And that's why, when he went in the hospital, he was feeling numbness in his fingers, and that's why he went to get that little neck surgery to help him out.”

As per People Magazine, Hogan and Hart used to watch wrestling together three days a week, and also used to do karaoke together at Hogan’s Hangout bar at his hometown. Recalling the last day he and Hogan spent together, Hart said,

“He was great. He had great food to eat that night. He was talking with the fans. He was just phenomenal.”

When news of Hogan’s death broke out on July 24, Hart took to his social media to pen a touching tribute to his departed friend. Alongside images of himself with ‘the Hulkster,’ as Hogan was also known, Hart wrote,

“What can you say when losing a best friend. First to Hulk's family I love you. I am here for you all. Hulkster you always kept me close to you through everything it was an honor.”

Remembering his adventures alongside his cherished friend, Hart added,

“We traveled the world back and forth. Wherever we went Hulkamania was ALIVE brother!! The fans always came out and we loved every minute of it. You made more people smile than I'll ever be able to count. Those are the memories I'll forever cherish. Thank you for a 4 decade ride. I will keep the Megaphone going, Red and Yellow will live on, legends never die Baby!!! I love you Terry "Hulkamania" FOREVER!! JH”
