Actor and comedian Mo'Nique will film her first Netflix stand-up comedy special this year in Atlanta, the streamer announced Tuesday.

Mo'Nique shared the news in a video posted to Netflix's Twitter account, saying, "Hey y'all it’s your girl Mo'Nique, and I'm excited to say that I'll be shooting my first Netflix comedy special."

According to Netflix, additional details about Mo'Nique's stand-up special will be released later this year.

The news comes after a years-long legal battle between Mo'Nique and Netflix. In 2019, the comedian sued Netflix for racial and pay discrimination, accusing the company of underpaying Black women for comedy specials after she was offered only $500,000 to film a special in 2017. After Mo'Nique rejected the lowball offer, Netflix halted negotiations, she claimed in the suit.

The pay discrimination lawsuit was mutually dismissed in June. Although the settlement amount was not disclosed, Michael Parks, a representative for Mo'Nique, said, "The matter has been amicably resolved."
