The third iteration of The Hills is coming to MTV. The Hills: Next Gen will feature an all-new cast of 20-something friends navigating life and love in Los Angeles. According to Deadline, this new group will be "more diverse than the original," and the series will focus on issues of race, class, identity, addiction, and family drama, set against the backdrop of Malibu.
The original Hills, a spinoff of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, ran on MTV for six seasons, from 2006 to 2010. The series starred Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Whitney Port, and Kristin Cavallari, among others. In 2019, MTV rebranded the show as The Hills: New Beginnings and recruited some original stars to return (as well as newcomers including Mischa Barton and Brandon Thomas Lee), but the reboot was canceled after just two seasons.
