Reports of people being fired after uploading posts celebrating Charlie Kirk's death have become very common since the time he was assassinated. One such person was a teacher from Barrington High School, who reportedly mocked Kirk's death. According to Fox News, the teacher was later placed on an administrative leave as well.

The Rhode Island school has gotten further attention after the high school students launched a Turning Point USA chapter. On Tuesday, Brayden Ryan, vice president of the Turning Point USA chapter at Barrington High School in Rhode Island, spoke to Fox News Digital. Ryan said,

"What inspired me personally to start this Turning Point chapter was the teacher at our school said after Charlie Kirk's death, he made a TikTok about how he has no remorse over him and how he was a hateful person."

Ryan further stated that it was quite difficult to launch the TPUSA chapter due to the political demographics of the region. According to Ryan,

"I feel like we should give space to other students, a free and safe space to other students, other conservative students, to speak their own personal values, such as their religious beliefs and their political beliefs."

Caleb Kaplan, the chapter's president, said that they had received mixed reactions when it came to starting the initiative. According to Kaplan, some even defended the teacher and wanted him to be reinstated.

What did the Rhode Island schoolteacher say about Charlie Kirk that eventually turned controversial?

The Barrington High School teacher, Benjamin Fillo, has received massive scrutiny after his remarks about Charlie Kirk following his assassination. In the video that was uploaded on TikTok, Fillo reportedly said that "Kirk thought he proved how tough he was with his words... What a piece of garbage. Look what happens... Bye, Charlie!"

In the viral video, Fillo spoke about Kirk and said,

"This is a man who hated the LGBTQ community, who hated women's rights, who hated democracy, who thought he was a big man cause he went to college campuses and debated young college students and thought he proved how tough he was with his words... What a piece of garbage!"

The video began getting circulated on platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter. Many netizens reacted to the clip, with some saying that Fillo did not appear to have been celebrating or mocking Charlie Kirk's death. Meanwhile, many netizens criticized him for the remarks. Brayden Ryan said that it was the teacher who inspired them to launch the TPUSA chapter.

According to the TPUSA chapter president, many were starting petitions to get the teacher back to his position. Caleb Kaplan said that while they faced difficulties while establishing the chapter, they aimed at handling the issues peacefully. Meanwhile, Sarah Dell, spokesperson for Barrington School District, spoke to Fox News Digital about the new chapter.

According to Dell, the school students were welcome to start new clubs that suited their interests. Dell added that the TPUSA chapter was one of many new clubs that are going through the same process.

Benjamin Fillo has not issued any statement as of now.
