A day after Charlie Kirk was shot in the middle of his ongoing event at the Utah Valley University (UVU), a screenshot of the alleged trajectory of the bullet that hit him on the campus's map was posted on X.

The tweet has since gone viral with more than 8 million views within hours of its upload. It has also sparked a debate among netizens about whether or not it was the job of a professional shooter. Some netizens pointed out that taking a neck shot wasn't characteristic of a professional shooter.

"Professionals don't make neck shots." - commented an X user.
"A professional wouldn't do it at a crowded event, imo. They were definitely skilled though." - wrote another.
"I thought after President Trump they would start checking the roofs." - added a third one.

Meanwhile, other netizens pointed out that the estimated range of the shot taken at Charlie Kirk wasn't a classic marker of a professional shooter.

"140 yards to hit a 1 square foot stationary target with a standard hunting rifle from prone position isn’t hard." - pointed out a fourth user.
"Bro... That's not even close to long range." - replied a fifth one.
"He was roughly the same distance as Thomas Crooks was from Trump. No professional is aiming for the neck. He was not facing counter snipers and had all the time in the world. Why does everyone think this had to be a professional?" - questioned a sixth netizen.

Charlie Kirk's shooting appears to be a targeted attack, since no one else at the event (with a population of more than 3,000 people at the time) was shot. The bullet hit Kirk's neck, after which the podcaster was immediately taken to the hospital, where he passed away.

Politicians who have suffered violence in the past reacted to Charlie Kirk's shooting

Charlie Kirk's tragic passing has attracted the reaction of both public figures and the common folk. Among these are the political leaders who have been through something similar in the past.

One of them is the former White House speaker, Nancy Pelosi. In 2022, a man attacked her husband with a hammer in their California home. Pelosi called the shooting "reprehensible," adding:

"Political violence has absolutely no place in our nation."

Gabrielle Giffords, who was injured in a 2011 shooting and incurred a serious brain injury from it, also addressed Kirk's death. The former US representative posted on social media:

"Democratic societies will always have political disagreements, but we must never allow America to become a country that confronts those disagreements with violence."

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro also tweeted about the incident, writing:

"We must speak with moral clarity. The attack on Charlie Kirk is horrifying and this growing type of unconscionable violence cannot be allowed in our society."

Shapiro was attacked in his governor's mansion earlier this year and had to evacuate it urgently after the building was set on fire by an intruder.

Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika Frantzve Kirk, and their two children.
