Texas Flood: Matthew McConaughey to Shakira, celebrities and more helping victims of devastating flood

Celebrities and corporations are donating to help victims of Texas Hill Country flood.

    Texas Hill Country has been grappling with intense floods and destruction for a couple of days now. Flash floods continue to sweep through areas. Texas officials confirmed that the devastating floods have killed nearly 80 people already, according to a recent CNN report.  

    Amid the chaos and rescue procedures, several celebrities, including Matthew McConaughey and Shakira, and several companies came forward to donate money to the victims of the natural disaster caused over the Fourth of July weekend.  

    In a conversation with CNN’s Pamela Brown, a woman of the Camp Mystic appreciated the camp counselors for assisting people during this unfortunate time. She added that children were able to run away through the windows and settle in dry areas for safety. 

    She expressed:

    "The counselors were heroes."

    Explaining how the counselors helped everyone escape, she shared,

    "Two counselors were in the rapids and one on the dry hill moving the kids from hand to hand. A lot of them lost their shoes and then climbed up the rocky hill to safety."

    A look at everyone donating to support the Texas flood victims

    According to a Kens 5 report, people from all around have donated money worth over $2 million to help the unfortunate victims of the terrifying flood in Texas.

    Matthew McConaughey, 55, is one of the celebrities to speak about the terrifying conditions and donate to the same cause. The Texas-born actor opened up about the tragedy in a social media post, sharing,

    "At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting - inside and out."

    He further requested netizens to donate if possible, by noting,

    "If you're able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can. It's gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor."

    The Interstellar star concluded his message with,

    "Texans are some of the most resilient and generous people on the planet."

    Shakira, 48, also posted on social media, urging everyone to donate and provide support to help the affected ones.

    Dedicating her message to San Antonio, she expressed,

    "Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in Central Texas."

    She further continued:

    "We are donating a portion of tonight’s show proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who are providing disaster relief to the families impacted."

    The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker concluded her post by adding a flood relief donation link and requesting,

    "If you would like to join me in donating, please click on the link below. Your help is important and appreciated."

    According to a report by the New York Post, actress Jennifer Garner, 53, expressed her thoughts on the Texas flood on June 6, 2025. Taking to her Instagram story, the Houston-born penned,

    "Texas. God, be near"

    On July 5, the Houston Texans reflected on the victims via a Facebook post. Janice, Hannah and Cal McNair released a statement, adding,

    "We are heartbroken by the loss and damage that our neighbors in the Texas Hill Country have endured. We are especially devastated to hear about the children who are still missing and we are praying they are reunited with their families soon. Our hearts will remain with everyone affected and in addition to our donation, we will continued to support the search, rescue, and recovery efforts in the coming weeks."

    United Services Automobile Association (USAA) also posted about Texas floods and advocated for support, sharing,

    "Our hearts are with our families and neighbors impacted by the devastating floods across Central Texas. This is more than a community we serve; it’s a community we’re a part of. We are deeply grateful to the first responders already on the scene and stand at the ready to help, mobilizing volunteer and philanthropic efforts to aid in the recovery."

    The Dallas Cowboys shared an emotional message for the affected people and wrote on Facebook,

    "Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastation and loss of life caused by the floods in Kerr County and Texas Hill Country, especially for the young girls and their families, as well as all of those lost and their loved ones. This has been devastating to see and we hold everyone impacted in our thoughts and prayers. Standing side by side with The Salvation Army's critical response, we are also donating $500,000 to provide immediate resources for rescue, relief and long term recovery efforts."

    The National Football League (NFL) decided to contribute "$1.5 Million to Communities Impacted by Flooding in Central Texas," as per an NFL Facebook post's caption. The post reads, 

    "The National Football League's two Texas-based teams — the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans — are uniting with the NFL Foundation to support the victims' families and survivors of the heartbreaking floods in central Texas. Together they will contribute $1.5 million to provide both immediate assistance and long-term resources to those most impacted by the catastrophic flooding."

    USA Today confirmed Miranda Lambert and Maren Morris also spoke out on the recent Texas floods. According to a WFAA report, donations also came from several organizations, several celebrities, federal agencies, state agencies, and local companies. H-E-B and a jeweler named Kendra Scott have also pledged to the Texas Hill Country disaster.
