The White Lotus Renewed for Season 3 at HBO

The White Lotus will return for a third season. 

HBO announced today that it had ordered a third season of Mike White's award-winning anthology series, which is currently airing Season 2. The White Lotus Season 2, set in Sicily, recently became the #1 title overall on HBO Max. 

"Reflecting on The White Lotus's humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike [White] orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows," said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films in a statement. 

"His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, paired with his signature irreverent humor and buoyant directing style, have us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we’ve come to adore," she continued. "We couldn’t be more thrilled to get the chance to collaborate on a third season together."

"I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus," said series creator White. White had previously expressed interest in continuing the series with a third season, dropping hints that he might like it to be set somewhere in Asia - and that cast member Jennifer Coolidge would return.

The third installment has been confirmed to feature a "new group of guests at another White Lotus property", but no further details are known yet. 

Season 2, currently airing, stars Coolidge, F. Murray Abraham, Meghann Fahy, Jon Gries, Tom Hollander, The Sopranos' Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe, and more. The finale airs December 11. 

Season 1, set in Hawaii, earned 10 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Oustanding Supporting Actress for Coolidge. 

The White Lotus airs Sundays at 9pm on HBO and is streaming on HBO Max.
