Trevor Noah was in an upbeat mood Tuesday night as he poked fun at CNN's effort to cut back on their use of the "Breaking News" banner.
"For years, CNN has been notorious for overhyping every story like it's the zombie apocalypse," said Noah. "It's like, 'BREAKING NEWS: The midterm elections are now six months away!'"
"And not surprisingly, this approach has started to backfire, as viewers have learned to tune it out. Like the boy who cried wolf. Or in this case, the Wolf who cried wolf," he said, as an image of CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer appeared on screen.
The Daily Show host then shared an alternative banner, "Just Normal Stuff," that he joked could replace the network's "Breaking News" chyron. "It's perfect," said Noah. "They did a great job. Well done, CNN."
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11:00 PM ET on Comedy Central.
