On The Daily Show Tuesday night, Trevor Noah once again called out one of the many bizarre choices made by Donald Trump, after the former president announced he would be endorsing "Eric" in Missouri's Republican primary for U.S. Senate.
The catch? Both candidates are named Eric.
Instead of choosing between former Missouri governor Eric Greitens and current state Attorney General Eric Schmitt, Trump endorsed just "Eric," essentially picking them both.
"There are two Erics running against each other in the primary, and Trump put out a statement endorsing 'Eric,'" said Noah. "Just Eric. He could be supporting any Eric in the world."
"Well not any Eric," he added, before showing a picture of the former president's son, Eric Trump.
Noah continued, "To me the best part of the story is that before he made the announcement, Trump called Eric Schmitt and told him that he was getting the endorsement. Then, he called Eric Greitens and told him he was getting the endorsement. But he didn't mention to either of them that he was endorsing both of them."
"Yeah, what an a*shole," Noah added, as the audience groaned. "Turns out the dude even brings infidelity into his endorsements, you know. He's the first politician to have a side Eric."
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11:00 PM ET on Comedy Central.
