Trump Family Had 'No Editorial Control' Over Jan. 6 Docuseries Unprecedented

In an interview set to air Thursday night on CBS Evening News, Norah O'Donnell spoke to documentarian Alex Holder about his new three-part documentary series, Unprecedented, which will premiere on Discovery+ this summer.

O'Donnell previewed the interview on Twitter, revealing that the Trump family had "no editorial control" over the series, and no one in the family has seen "a frame of the footage."

The CBS anchor also said Holder has 120 hours of footage, including interviews with Trump and his family, and the series is ready to air. Holder interviewed Trump twice after the January 6 Capitol insurrection, and O'Donnell wrote on Twitter, "[Holder] called President Trump's answers to the January 6 riot 'staggering' and he was 'taken aback by it.'"

Discovery+ announced on Wednesday that it secured the rights to Unprecedented, which will feature videos of Trump, his family, and his staff during the final weeks of the 2020 election.

Holder released a statement on Twitter on Tuesday saying he "complied with a congressional subpoena to turn over footage captured during his work on the documentary series surrounding the final six weeks of President Trump's re-election campaign, as well as never-before-seen footage of the January 6th attack at the U.S. Capitol."

The series boasts "unparalleled access and exclusive interviews," Holder added, explaining it was filmed in the White House, Mar-A-Lago, and on the campaign trail, before and after January 6.
