Where to Stream A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & Other Classic Family Holiday Specials

The cooler temps and family gatherings on the horizon provide the perfect setting for viewing marathons. If you're done playing catch-up with 2022's TV premieres and are looking for some Thanksgiving-themed fare, Primetimer's put together this guide to our favorite classic holiday specials, and where to watch them. 

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Streaming on Apple TV+

This classic special won an Emmy Award after airing on CBS in 1973, and has remained a seasonal staple since. The 25-minute special features the classic Peanuts characters as they dig into some silly Thanksgiving shenanigans (and Snoopy cooks his own Thanksgiving dinner). 

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will stream free on Apple TV+ for non-subscribers November 23 through 27, while subscribers can watch it now. A Charlie Brown Christmas will also be available free to non-subscribers December 22 through 25.

Garfield's Thanksgiving

Garfield gets some unwelcome news in this Thanksgiving-themed special after Jon's new love veterinarian love interest recommends he go on a diet. The 1989 special episode clocks in at just 24 minutes, the perfect length for a mid-course break. 

The Berenstain Bears Meet Bigpaw

The existence of this special might come as a surprise to some fans, but this animated 23-minute short based on the beloved children's book series of the same name aired in 1980 on NBC. The Bear family finds themselves terrified when an ominous footprint appears in the bottom of their pan, believing it to be a sign that the Thanksgiving Legend of Bigpaw is coming true. If the bears are selfish and greedy and unkind, they will be gobbled up by Bigpaw, but it doesn't take long for the once-judgmental town to come together and realize the true reason for the season. 

A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving

Your favorite residents of the Hundred Acre Wood begin a hunt for Thanksgiving dinner ingredients in this adorable 22-minute special. Originally airing on ABC in 1998, the special sees Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and the rest of the crew come together to gather delicious food among friends in the hopes of achieving a true Thanksgiving and learn what there really is to be grateful for in the process. 

Jim Henson's Turkey Hollow

Available for purchase on Prime Video

A newer addition to the Thanksgiving canon, this Lifetime movie starring by Mary Steenburgen sees a young duo track an "elusive monster" called the Howling Hoodoo, believed to be a legend by most residents of Turkey Hollow. With delightful mythical creatures created by the iconic Jim Henson Company, there's fun for the whole family in this adventure.
