Betty White's SNL Monologue Reminds Us of Her Greatness

As a special tribute to screen legend Betty White, who passed away on December 31 at the age of 99, Saturday Night Live re-aired White's 2010 episode, a 90-minute affair that serves as a testament to her greatness.

White's episode, for which she earned an Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Emmy, began with a monologue about Facebook and the fan campaign that led to her hosting the show. "When I first heard about the campaign to get me to host Saturday Night Live, I didn't know what Facebook was," she said. "And now that I do know what it is, I have to say, it sounds like a huge waste of time! I would never say that people on it are losers, but that's only because I'm polite."

But the monologue ended on a more heartfelt note. "I'm here tonight because you wanted me to be," White concluded, to a massive round of applause. "I feel so loved. Thank you."

While White's monologue will forever live on in SNL history, her other sketches from that night are also excellent, particularly "MacGruber: Grandma," "Scared Straight," and "Census Taker vs. Old Lady."
