Maybe those masks really do work? On Wednesday night, The Masked Singer panelist Jenny McCarthy fell out of her chair when the identity of Cluedle-Doo, a masked performer who delivered hints about the contestants, was revealed. Who is Cluedle-Doo, you (and Jenny McCarthy) ask? Why, it's none other than Donnie Wahlberg, New Kids on the Block star... and McCarthy's husband.
Ahead of The Masked Singer Season 5 finale next week, Cluedle-Doo finally took off his mask as part of a special surprise for the panelists and fans at home. For weeks, the bedazzled rooster has teased that he's a big-time performer, but he declined to showcase his vocals until Wednesday night, when he performed "Return of the Mack" by Mark Morrison. Afterwards, the panelists took a stab at guessing his identity, but no one, not even McCarthy, came close to getting it right.
When it was finally revealed that Cluedle-Doo was Wahlberg, McCarthy was floored (quite literally), and she collapsed on the ground in shock. "Oh, my god!" she said, once her head popped up from behind the table. "I'm shaking!"
"Donnie, have you been coming in each week and lying?" McCarthy asked her husband. "Yeah, I've been sneaking in and out," he said.
While he may be in the dog house, Wahlberg explained that he couldn't pass up the chance to perform for his New Kids on the Block fans. "They're family. They're my heart," he said. "So, I did it for my ladies and brothers, and, of course, my lady, too."
The Masked Singer Season 5 concludes next Wednesday, May 26 at 8:00 PM ET on FOX.
