In this clip from tonight's Jeopardy!, guest host Buzzy Cohen takes a moment to acknowledge the absence of Brayden Smith from this year's Tournament of Champions, and to announce that the show is making a donation in his honor.
"Brayden Smith, the incredible young man who won five shows and $115,000 in January passed away earlier this year," explained Cohen. "Braden's family has established a fund in his name, and Jeopardy! will be donating to that fund. We want to express our best wishes and condolences to his family."
Smith, who had been hailed on social media as Alex Trebek's "Last Great Champion," died in February at age 24 following complications from an undisclosed surgery.
