Back in June, when John Oliver revealed that many local car dealerships get their bizarre advertisements from a single company, the Last Week Tonight host issued a challenge: car dealers can have an Oliver-penned advertisement for free, so long as they agree not to read the script before filming. Sounds simple, right?
Wrong. In a web exclusive released yesterday, Oliver shared the finished product, and it's every bit as unhinged as promised. The full commercial is scheduled to run in Zumbrota, Minnesota this week, home of the winning dealership, Zumbrota Ford. As a very wise woman once said, "You get a (used) car! You get a (used) car!"
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is off this week, but it will return to HBO next Sunday, October 24 at 11:00 PM ET on HBO.
