Netflix Channels Buffy the Vampire Slayer in Manga-Inspired Warrior Nun

Netflix's latest fantasy adventure is being described as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but ultra Catholic." Inspired by the popular Manga series, Warrior Nun follows the exploits of 19-year-old Ava (Alba Baptista) who awakes in a morgue with new vitality, an ancient artifact in her back, and an insatiable desire to battle demons. The series drops its first season today. Also today: Council of Dads airs its series finale, the Blindspot team hunts for a mole, and priorities are changing on The Bold Type. SERIES PREMIERE: The first season of Warrior Nun introduces viewers to Ava (Alba Baptista), who returns from the dead and learns of her new mission in life (or the afterlife), hunting down demons as a member of The Cruciform Sword. Watch the trailer. Streaming on Netflix

SERIES FINALE: Though it seemsed to be designed as a fly trap for This Is Us fans, it seems less-than-stellar ratings for Council of Dads led to the show's cancellation last week.
