Lego Masters Jr. was officially announced by FOX on July 28, 2025, as a new spin-off of the network’s popular LEGO-themed competition series.
Alongside the announcement, it was revealed that Nick Cannon will serve as the host for the upcoming show, which is set to premiere on Monday, August 18, 2025.
The special event series will run for four weeks, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu.
This marks a shift from the main LEGO Masters series, which has been hosted by Will Arnett for five seasons.
Cannon takes the lead in this junior version, which focuses on young builders paired with celebrity guests.
The contestants will range in age from 9 to 17, competing in brick-building challenges designed to showcase creativity, teamwork, and technical skills.
“I’m a huge fan of Lego Masters. It’s an honor to join the series and host another show with my Fox family,”Cannon said in a statement, expressing excitement over the opportunity.
The junior edition is part of a broader expansion of the LEGO Masters franchise, which also includes the holiday special editions.
This new iteration introduces audition-style episodes and brings a younger generation into the spotlight for the first time.
Lego Masters Jr. will feature young contestants aged 9 to 17, each paired with a celebrity teammate. The goal is to test the teams’ creativity and problem-solving through large-scale LEGO challenges.
FOX confirmed that the celebrity guests will include Andy Richter, Jordin Sparks, Ravi Patel, Alison Sweeney, and Porsha Williams.
Nick Cannon, in his hosting debut for the LEGO franchise, said,
“Season six we’re bringing an action-packed hour full of family fun, passion and for the first time ever, in-person audition episodes.”
His mention of “season six” ties into the broader timeline of the show, but the junior version will serve as a standalone four-week special.
The show will be filmed at Legoland California Resort in Carlsbad, offering a themed backdrop for the contestants’ creations.
Challenges will reflect real-world storytelling, engineering, and artistic flair using only LEGO bricks.
Michael Thorn, President of FOX’s Entertainment division, said,
“We’re thrilled to bring LEGO Masters back for another season… Now enters an exciting next chapter with Nick Cannon at the helm.”
While the main series continues, this new version allows the format to expand into younger demographics.
The junior builders will be evaluated on both creativity and collaboration, with a cash prize awarded to the top team. Each week will bring new builds, surprise twists, and eliminations, as the teams race against the clock.
Lego Masters Jr. arrives as part of the franchise’s growing presence on FOX. With five full seasons and three Celebrity Holiday Bricktacular specials already aired, the format has proven popular among family audiences.
However, fans of the original show were quick to notice the absence of long-time host Will Arnett, who will not be appearing in the junior series or Season 6 of the main show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision was due to scheduling conflicts, and the split between FOX and Arnett was described as “amicable.”
Arnett had been the face of the franchise since its U.S. debut, helping introduce LEGO building to primetime audiences.
Nick Cannon addressed the change by sharing his enthusiasm for stepping into the role. “It’s an honor,” he said, adding that he looks forward to seeing the “insane creations” that will come from the junior competitors.
FOX confirmed that season 6 of the original Lego Masters will also go ahead, but with a delayed schedule.
Audition episodes for that season will be filmed later this month, with a premiere expected during the 2025–2026 season.
