One of the beloved figures from General Hospital is Dr. Lucas Jones. As the adopted son of Bobbie Spencer and Dr. Tony Jones, Lucas’ story is tied to different parts of the show. Currently, Van Hansis takes on the role of Lucas.

Van Hansis is the actor currently portraying Dr. Lucas Jones on General Hospital. Hansis, an accomplished actor best known for his role on As the World Turns, joined General Hospital in 2024. 

Since he first appeared, many actors have played Lucas. Nicholas Moody played Lucas Jones for a short time at birth in 1989. From 1992 to 1994, the Gravino twins, Kenny and Chuckie, played him. As Lucas grew up and dealt with life's problems, many other actors, such as C.J. Thomason, Ben Hogestyn, and Ryan Carnes, have played him at different times. Van Hansis is the most recent actor to play the role. 

Lucas Jones is a main character on the popular ABC soap opera General Hospital in 1989. Right from family drama to medical challenges, he has played a huge part in the narratives of General Hospital.

Lucas Jones was originally portrayed as the biological son of Cheryl Stansbury and the notorious mobster Julian Jerome. He was brought up by Dr. Tony Jones and Nurse Bobbie Spencer. His mother, Cheryl, was involved in a complicated and illicit adoption process. Cheryl was led to believe her child had died shortly after birth. However, Bobbie Spencer, ended up adopting Lucas, who was originally brought to her by a man named Clayton.

As a child, Lucas grew up with Bobbie and Tony, who gave him a loving home. The emotional tension surrounding his identity was established early in his storyline. Lucas later came to realize that he was actually the biological son of Julian Jerome.

Lucas' life on General Hospital has been mostly about his relationship with his adoptive parents and siblings. Lucas shared a particularly close bond with his adoptive sister Carly Spencer. Carly, while a complicated character in her own right, has always supported Lucas throughout his many trials. Additionally, Lucas was very close with his adoptive brother, B.J. Jones.

Even though Tony and Bobbie raised Lucas, he has had a rough time with his biological family, especially since his biological father Julian Jerome came back into the picture in 2013. When Julian came along, Lucas had to deal with the fact that the person he called 'father' was not his biological parent. The situation was tricky because Julian was the son of a mob boss. However, Lucas still saw Tony and Bobbie as his real parents.

As a doctor, Lucas's job has been one of the things that truly defines him. Lucas earned his Ph.D. in 2005, making him the first character in General Hospital history to do so.
