Helen Hunt joins Starz's Blindspotting

The Oscar and Emmy winner will co-star with Jasmine Cephas Jones on the sequel series to Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal's acclaimed 2018 Oakland-based movie. Hunt will play Rainey, the mother of Casal's Miles, who is suddenly incarcerated. "It is such an honor to have Helen Hunt in this series," said Casal. "We became friends after she tweeted about her love of the film and we have long looked for a project to do together. She has been our first choice for the character Rainey since we dreamed this show up." When Hunt tweeted about Blindspotting in Auguest 2018, Casal responded: "I literally watched TWISTER and AS GOOD AS IT GETS within the last 2 days in awe of this woman and I am actually floored right now." Hunt is coming off of the Mad About You revival.
