The former Dance Moms star and U.S. Olympics gymnastics gold medalist Suni Lee were announced today as the first two competitors for Dancing's 30th season, premiering Sept. 20. Siwa, who came out as gay earlier this year, will be paired with a female dance partner, forming the first same-sex couple in Dancing's 16-year history. Siwa's dance partner won't be revealed until the season premiere. “I’m excited that I get to do it,” Siwa said at the TV press tour. “I think it breaks a wall that’s never been broken down before. … Not only do I now get to share with the world that you get to love who you want to love, but also, you get to dance with who you want to dance with. I think it’s really special.” As for who she'll be paired with, Siwa had a few suggestions: Lindsay Arnold, Jenna Johnson and Britt Stewart. "I think if I got one of those three I would just be so happy,” she said. Dancing host Tyra Banks told Siwa “you’re making history, JoJo. “This is history.” Last year, Strictly Come Dancing, the British version of Dancing, had its first-ever same-sex couple with Olympic champion boxer Nicola Adams and dancer Katya Jones.
