Jason Hehir, director of the ESPN Michael Jordan documentary, told The Athletic he wanted each interview subject to have an "organic connection" to Jordan and his story, as opposed to simply including "as many famous people ... as possible." Hehir said he wanted to highlight Obama's connection to Chicago while Jordan was with the Bulls rather than his later role as president, which had nothing to do with Jordan. The same thing occurred with Bill Clinton, who was billed as "Former Arkansas Governor" since he had a connection with Scottie Pippen when the former Bull star was at the University of Central Arkansas.
