It was revealed Monday that Hal Holbrook has passed away at the age of 95.
While he had a long and storied career, the first role that got him attention was as Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain. In the 1950s, he wrotes and developed a one-man show titled Mark Twain Tonight!, which ultimately found its way to Broadway in 1966. A year later, he brought the show to CBS and won an Emmy Award for his performance.
This is a clip of Holbrook's masterful work as Twain, expouding on the "jackass" notion of man as a "reasoning animal."
