Amy Schumer made the most of her time on The View Wednesday morning when she asked Whoopi Goldberg for advice about hosting the Oscars.
"You are hosting the Oscars this year. Congratulations!" said Whoopi. "With Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. What, about a week and a half left? How's it going?"
Schumer joked that she'd "better start eating right" before the event, before asking Whoopi, a four-time host, for some tips. "Go have a good time," replied The View's longtime moderator. "And don't read anything. Stay away from all the internets. Don't read it two days before, and don't read it two days after. Because everybody thinks it's the easiest job in the world, but it's not."
"But have a good time. Because if you're having a good time, they'll have a good time," Whoopi continued. "And also, you're a movie star — I know that you don't realize it. But that's what — for me, you have to be somebody who loves the movies, because as you're sitting watching people [cringe], you can say, 'Listen, I know you thought you were going to get that, but somebody else got it, so let's party anyway!'"

Schumer isn't the only host of the 94th Academy Awards to consult Whoopi ahead of next Sunday's event. Last week, Regina Hall told Entertainment Tonight that the Oscars veteran offered her similar advice about enjoying her time on stage. "The biggest thing [she said] was to have fun and celebrate why you're there," revealed Hall. "Celebrate the nominees, the movies, the films, and keep the show moving, which I know people obviously want, you know? She really wanted me to have a lot of fun with it on stage."
As for the opening monologue itself, Schumer confirmed Sunny Hostin's question about whether the co-hosts are "going all in and plan to take no prisoners" with their jokes. "I've never personally taken a prisoner anywhere," she joked. "But coming out of this pandemic, I really feel like performing. I'm really excited to do this. I'm also a mean-spirited comedian. I consulted my lawyer, and he said, 'You can't say half of those things.' And so the ones that I can say, I'm going to."
