Suffice it to say that Joy Behar is not a fan of Caitlyn Jenner's campaign for the California governorship. During a contentious interview on The View Thursday morning, Behar pressed Jenner on the 2020 election, but the Republican candidate toed the party line when she refused to admit that former President Trump lost to Joe Biden. "I am not going to get into that," said Jenner, who described Trump as a "disruptor" she hopes to emulate, if elected. "That election is over with."
Interesting, Jenner's appearance on The View was relatively calm until its final moments (Meghan McCain even fawned over Jenner as she criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom's "insane" COVID policies), when Behar interrupted yet another screed about California's current leadership. "Caitlyn, you've said all that. Thank you for that. I want to ask you something before we go because we're out of time, something that's important for me to know," said Behar. "A lot of Republicans in this country believe that Donald Trump won the election and not Joe Biden. Are you one of those people, one of those Republicans?"
Jenner refused to answer, as the 2020 election is "over with" and she's busy looking to the future. However, she wasn't done pandering to the GOP base quite yet. "I believe that Donald Trump did do some good things," she said. "And what I liked about Donald Trump is he was a disruptor."
"But did he win? Did he win the election?" asked Behar, as Jenner continued praising the twice-impeached president.
"He was a disruptor when he was president," replied the former Olympian. "I want to do the same thing. I want to go in and be a thoughtful disruptor in Sacramento. We need to change the system, and I want to change that system for the positive."
Jenner attempted to continue talking (as did Sunny Hostin, who asked how Jenner can square her position within the GOP with her party's push to decrease "transgender services") but Whoopi Goldberg cut her off and explained that the segment had run out of time. "I want to come back and spend more time with you!" said Jenner. Given Behar's sarcastic chuckle in the background, the feeling probably isn't mutual.
