Joy Behar: 'How Dense Was Biden' for Thinking Republicans Will Work With Him?

Sunny Hostin's end of the table got a little less lonely Thursday morning when Joy Behar joined her in criticizing President Biden's naïveté after one year in office. In a speech yesterday, Biden said that he "did not anticipate" Republicans' effort to obstruct his agenda, a statement that Behar and Hostin found surprising given the past 15 years of political history. As Behar put it, "How dense was Biden, really, in these instances?"

While The View's discussion of Biden's Wednesday speech was relatively predictable — Ana Navarro and Whoopi Goldberg praised him for getting things done despite being "hampered" by the GOP, and Hostin brought up the "missed opportunity" to pass voting rights legislation — things finally got interesting when Hostin brought up Biden's decision to specifically call out Republican leadership. "One thing I haven't been able to do so far is get my Republican friends to get in the game at making things better in this country," said the president. "I did not anticipate that there would be such a stalwart effort to make sure that the most important thing was that President Biden didn't get anything done. Think about this: What are Republicans for? What are they for? Name me one thing they're for."

"He's governing like it's the 1990s!" Hostin said of Biden's remark. "He sat for eight years next to a Black president, yet didn't think he'd be treated like one. And that's what he's being treated like."

After the break, Behar offered a similar analysis. "In the '90s, Newt Gingrich had a 'Contract with America,'" she said. "And then you had Mitch McConnell say, his whole idea going forward with Obama was to make sure he's a one-term president. Then he said that about Biden. 'We're going to obstruct and we're not going to let him do anything he wants to do."

"I don't care that you're a white privileged senator in the United States Congress, and so you believe other white privileged guys will work with you," continued Behar. "But they won't! And they don't!"

Whoopi then tried to argue that "we all should've known what was coming," but after Behar and Hostin pushed back — "After January 6, of course we knew," said a very measured Hostin — she acquiesced and sent the show to commercial. That's for the best: we've already had our share of nonsensical Whoopi monologues this week.

Elsewhere on The View... Joy Behar revealed that she's "solved the bra problem" thanks to a helpful tip from Martha Stewart. "I said to Martha Stewart one time, 'What kind of bra do you wear?' And she said, 'I wear a bathing suit,'" she recalled. "So I said, 'What happens when you have to pee?' And she said, 'You just pull it over to the side.'"

Whoopi noted that "the snaps" on a bathing suit can also solve this problem, but the ladies were unfamiliar with the concept, so she bent down to show how "limber" you must be to re-snap your bathing suit.

"It's very difficult to do on three-inch heels," said Ana Navarro, sending the conversation down a rabbit hole that culminated in each co-host sticking their feet on the table to show off their shoes. It's almost Friday, ladies.
