Sunny Hostin Hits Ana Navarro With the Dreaded Question: 'Why Are You Still a Republican?!'

Sunny Hostin sure knows how to push Ana Navarro's buttons. On Friday morning, things got testy when Hostin asked Navarro her least favorite question — "Why are you still a Republican?!" — during a discussion about Lindsey Graham voting not to confirm Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson.

After Navarro admitted she was wrong to stand by Sen. Lindsey Graham shortly after President Biden named Jackson as his Supreme Court nominee, The View's panel shifted the discussion towards the current state of the GOP. "Lindsey Graham is still living with the consequences of the 2016 election, when Donald Trump ate the Republican Party," said guest co-host Chelsea Clinton. "Lindsey Graham is still living under that specter, under that shadow, or maybe in Donald Trump's belly."

"It's so true! Ana and I have this argument all the time," replied Hostin. "I always say, 'Why are you still a Republican?'"

Before she could continue, Navarro interrupted in to ask why Hostin "is still a Catholic" even though she disagrees with the Catholic Church on certain issues. "Yes, but the Church did not try to destroy democracy in this country!" said Hostin. "That is very, very different than talking about a political party that doesn't even exist anymore!"

"Sunny, what party was Abraham Lincoln?" replied Navarro, in the weirdest comment of the entire exchange. "Who passed the Voter Registration Act the first time?"

"The Republican Party that you loved doesn't exist anymore!" insisted Hostin. "It's the party of insurrectionists. It's the party of traitors, white supremacists. It's not the party you love!"

"What you don't understand is that no matter how much you want it to happen, the Republican Party is not going to disappear," fired back Navarro. "And so in my mind, what we need to do is to have two strong, healthy parties competing for your vote, and my vote!"

When Hostin insisted Navarro is the only "non-loca in the party," Navarro assured her that there are plenty of other anti-Trump Republicans, "There's a lot of people who are supporting people like Liz Cheney, like Mitt Romney, like Adam Kinzinger!" she said.

Rather than continue to escalate the discussion, Navarro transitioned into safer territory with a remark about Clarence Thomas, a move that effectively ended the segment. Happy Friday, ladies!
