Sunny Hostin Skewers Ginni Thomas: She's 'A Little Bit of a Filthy Liar'

Sunny Hostin isn't buying Ginni Thomas' claim that she and her husband, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, never discussed her efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Friday morning on The View, the co-hosts reacted to Thomas' Thursday testimony before the January 6 Committee, during which she repeated the false claim that the election was "stolen" from President Trump and insisted she and her husband have "an ironclad rule" against discussing pending Supreme Court cases. "She says that he's not interested in politics," added fill-in moderator Joy Behar. "What?! It's one thing for my cousin Louise to not be interested in politics. But a Supreme Court justice? He makes decisions based on — a lot about politics."

"I think Ginni Thomas is a little bit of a filthy liar," said Hostin. "The reason that I say that is because she says, 'We don't talk about politics. We don't talk about the Supreme Court.'"

"What do they talk about?" interrupted Behar. "Dancing with the Stars?"

Hostin laughed, but continued on with her point, explaining that former law clerks "stay in touch" and continue to discuss cases involving their judges. "There is a thread of Supreme Court former clerks of Clarence Thomas. She's not only on the thread, but she plans family retreats for everyone!" said the co-host. "She wanted to 'build connective tissue' across the years among all of his former clerks, and one of his former clerks is lawyer John Eastman, who was a key figure in the House January 6 Select Committee's probe."

"So Ginni," Hostin concluded, looking right into the camera. "Come on, girl."

Alyssa Farah Griffin also "call[ed] B.S." on the no-politics-at-home rule. "She's technically entitled to her own activism. She's even entitled to believe things, like that the election was stolen, even though that is demonstrably untrue," she said.

"But this is a woman that was at the Ellipse on January 6," continued Griffin. "Even when they get home for dinner that day you would think Justice Thomas is like, 'Oh, so what did you do today?' I'm pretty sure the Supreme Court was shut down for security [reasons]."

After a debate about whether Thomas is "crazy" or a "mastermind" went unsettled, the ladies posed the question to guest (and original The View co-host) Star Jones, who stopped by to discuss her new role at the helm of Divorce Court.

"She's either lying, or she calculated ahead of time that one day she'd be sitting in front of an FBI officer, or a person from the Department of Justice, and she knew she wanted plausible deniability," said Jones. "So she's either very, very smart, or she's lying. There's no middle ground there."

When forced to pick a side, Jones erred on the side of calculating. "I actually think she's very smart," she said. "I disagree with everything she says, but I think she's a smart lady."
