Alyssa Farah Griffin remains the frontrunner for The View's fifth seat, and she only endeared herself to the co-hosts further Tuesday morning when she took aim at her own party. Not only did Griffin blast her fellow Republicans for continuing to stand by former President Trump in the 18 months since the January 6 insurrection; she also insisted they are "on the wrong side" when it comes to marriage equality, which is supported by the vast majority of Americans.
The women of The View opened Tuesday's episode with a discussion about Mark Short, former chief of staff to Vice President Mike Pence, testifying before a federal grand jury about what he witnessed on January 6. After Sunny Hostin said the grand jury testimony indicates Attorney Merrick Garland "is going to prosecute Donald Trump" Griffin agreed, offering her take on the proceedings as a former Trump administration official.
"Mark Short is about as close to wheeling in Mike Pence that could [get]," said Griffin. "He's his eyes and ears. They're connected at the hip. He was there in the West Wing for the entirety of this pressure campaign as it was taking place leading up to January 6."
"I think this means it's coming very close to the Oval Office, to the most senior advisers around Trump," she continued, before turning her attention to the 2024 election.
"There's not a zero chance that Donald Trump might be the president again," said Griffin. "I don't think my party is moving quickly enough away from him. I think despite this overwhelming evidence, what the committee has laid out, what the DOJ is investigating, he's got the name ID, they remember, 'Well, I had more money when he was in office.'"

Griffin added that she particularly "fear[s] for him being president again" because "in a second term, you wouldn't have the Mark Shorts and the Greg Jacobs who say, 'No, we are not doing this. We are certifying for Joe Biden because he is the democratically-elected president.'"
But Griffin's criticism of her party didn't stop there: in the next segment, she railed against the 157 Republican members of Congress who voted against a bill that would codify the right to same-sex marriages.
"The Republican Party — they're on the wrong side of this," said the guest co-host. "On the one hand, I'm pleased the House was able to pass codifying marriage equality into law, but the number of Republicans that were against it? It's 2022! This is the easiest issue."
She noted "71% of Americans are for marriage equality," as well as 65% of Republicans under 30. "We have lived in a world where that's all we know," she said. "Our friends are married. They have kids."
When Whoopi Goldberg chimed in to say there are also gay Republicans, Griffin nodded in agreement.

"It's astounding to me. If there was one message I could deliver to my fellow Republicans: this should be easiest vote you'll ever take," continued Griffin. "You're standing with family. You're standing with kids."
Elsewhere on The View... The co-hosts played $100,000 Pyramid with guest Michael Strahan, and it was genuinely delightful. In a major upset, Team Joy Behar/Sarah Haines bested Team Sunny Hostin/Alyssa Farah Griffin and won ultimate bragging rights.
