Ana Navarro on Sean Hannity's January 6 Texts: 'What Does He Have to Hide?'

Ana Navarro did not hold back this morning on The View as she skewered Fox News personality Sean Hannity for flip-flopping on the Capitol insurrection. On Tuesday, the bipartisan January 6 commission released texts between Hannity and then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and formally requested an interview with the conservative pundit, though it's not yet clear if he will cooperate. "The right thing to do is for him to testify in front of the committee," said Navarro. "What does he have to hide?"

In the texts released Tuesday night, Hannity expressed concerns about Trump's plan to use Congress' January 6 session to overturn the election results and wrote that he's "very worried about the next 48 hours" just one day prior to the insurrection. "In my mind, he's got one key question to answer. Why was he worried, as he texted, 48 hours before January 6?" asked Navarro on The View. "What did he know after direct contact with Donald Trump? Why can't he share that with a duly-formed select committee of Congress?"

Navarro went on to blast the "many, many people on the right who were very critical and attacked Chris Cuomo for having been a shadow advisor, and not disclosing it to his viewers, to his brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo" (it's worth noting that Navarro is also employed by CNN). "Sean Hannity was a shadow advisor to Donald Trump! And these were stories that were getting covered on Fox News and on his show daily," she said. "Not only is he violating journalistic ethics, if you think Chris Cuomo did, but he's also lying to his viewers. Chris Cuomo never covered the Andrew Cuomo story. Sean Hannity has been underplaying January 6 and defending Donald Trump and not disclosing the concerns he had and the direct communications he had with the then-chief of staff."

The guest co-host insisted Hannity "owes better to Fox News" and to his viewers, though she admitted "the standards there are like, in the basement." Navarro added that the pundit has a "patriotic duty" to cooperate with the committee, as well as "a duty to law enforcement" and the officers that were attacked by the pro-Trump mob. "If Sean Hannity has any, any loyalty to law enforcement, he owes it to them, more than anybody, to go to the January 6 committee and testify," she said.

Elsewhere on The View... The co-hosts checked in with Whoopi Goldberg, who has been isolating at home (and not on-camera) after testing positive for COVID in December. The longtime moderator is vaccinated, boosted, and seems to be feeling fine, but unfortunately, she's still testing positive for the virus, and therefore needs to stay at home to remain in compliance with ABC protocols.

But the good news didn't stop there: Joy Behar revealed that her "spies," AKA executive producer Brian Teta, tell her that Whoopi should be able to return to the show on Monday. Hopefully, she'll be returning to a live show, though considering The View's COVID luck, that's not a given.
